Last month, Bill C-25, the Strong and Free Elections Act received royal assent on June 18, modernizing the Canada Elections Act. The legislation prohibits the use of broadcast messages from outside Canada to influence votes in nomination and leadership contests, while also limiting the forms of currency accepted by political parties and third-party political actors.
