Yuan Y. Stevens is an AI governance researcher, policy adviser and advocate, as well as a research affiliate at Data & Society Research Institute in New York City. She has held roles with Amnesty International, McGill University’s Centre of Genomics and Policy and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Leadership Lab (now The Dais), where she led projects on children’s digital rights, AI in health research, cybersecurity and democratic governance.
Her research and writing appear in academic journals, government submissions and public outlets such as The Hill Times, the Toronto Star, and The Conversation. She brings expertise in bridging research, policy and advocacy to shape technologies that respect human dignity.
