Bio
Ryan Jay Atkinson is a policy researcher specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and emerging technologies. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Carleton University with the Canadian Defence and Security Network, where he examined the intersection of technology, security and international affairs. His work explores the strategic and governance challenges of emerging technologies, with a focus on cyber conflict, defence innovation and the role of AI in international security. Ryan bridges academic research and policy practice, having held roles with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), KPMG Canada and the NATO Association of Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Western University and an M.A. and B.A. (Hons.) in political science from the University of Toronto.
