Experts Available for Commentary: 2026 World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings

Financial leaders from around the world will soon meet in Washington to discuss the challenges impacting economies worldwide amid global conflict and rising financial strain. James Boughton, Senior Fellow, Centre for International Governance Innovation
A former historian of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), James held various positions in the IMF’s Research Department and can speak to how historical global crises shaped the IMF-WB Meetings and the role of multilateral institutions in managing international financial crises. He specializes in financial governance, multilateral organizations, monetary policy and trade.


Paul Samson, CIGI President
Paul Samson is president of CIGI and has over three decades of experience across a range of global policy issues, working with international partners from around the world. He can comment on the global economy’s digital transformation, multilateral governance, economic policy developments and the evolving role of international institutions.


Hector Torres, Senior Fellow, Centre for International Governance Innovation
Hector Torres is a former IMF executive director, who specializes in international economic law, trade and global governance reform. He has held several senior roles with the IMF and can address the legal, economic implications of institutions such as the IMF and their role in the global economy. He began his diplomatic career in Venezuela in the mid-1980s.


Bessma Momani, Senior Fellow, Centre for International Governance Innovation
Bessma Momani is a full professor of political science at the University of Waterloo and an expert in international political economy, middle eastern economics and international financial institutions. She has co-authored the Oxford Handbook on the IMF and can offer her insights into geopolitical tensions and economic fallout challenging the IMF’s ability to support international cooperation.
